Job Description

A contract position for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is available at a K-12 school in Lynchburg, VA, from August 13, 2025, through May 30, 2026. This role offers approximately 8 hours of work per month, serving a caseload of four students across elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized orientation and mobility services to four students: two require weekly sessions, while the others receive bi-weekly support.
• Assess and develop individualized mobility plans tailored to each students needs.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate mobility training into the classroom environment.
• Maintain clear documentation and progress reports in accordance with school policies and state regulations.

Qualifications:

• Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification/licensure valid in the state of Virginia.
• Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting.
• Strong ability to design and implement effective mobility programs for visually impaired students.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with students, families, and school personnel.
