Copywriter, 1759

As a member of our Marketing Team, the Copywriter will write and edit copy for a variety of projects including: web, email, seasonal brand campaigns, PDP product copy, catalog and social media. This role will work closely with the Global Creative Director, Sr. Designers, Digital Designers, Site team and other Marketing partners to brainstorm ideas, create concepts, and develop on-brand storytelling. You will be responsible for consistently enforcing and elevating the overall brand voice and tone while creating easy-to-understand narratives that resonate with our consumer across all channels. Our ideal candidate for this role is a special fit, someone that is tactical, fluent in their craft, scrappy, and embraces a small team environment. This role reports to the Global Creative Director.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the highest editorial standard for all copy and ensure that it conforms to the evolving brand voice while engaging our target consumer.
  • Work directly with the Creative Director to effectively communicate our brand voice and tone consistently across a variety of consumer-facing channels aligning with brand positioning and strategy.
  • Lead copy creation for email, web and product copy while crafting overarching stories, themes, and campaigns.
  • Translate strategic marketing initiatives into informative and compelling copy solutions.
  • Work closely with graphic and digital designers in writing all headlines, and taglines for marketing communications.
  • As needed, assist in developing copy for all social media platforms.
  • Develop and maintain the copy style guide for new hires and future partnerships.
  • Strategic A/B testing of copy/subject line testing for email.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, Brand Creative, and eCommerce teams to develop and communicate brand positioning, seasonal narratives, and product stories.
  • Be a product expert to help consumers understand the “why” behind our brand, products, benefits, and technologies.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to understand seasonal product lines and emerging technologies.
  • Consult with the Creative Director, designers, production, and marketing personnel as necessary to achieve both long-term and short-term brand/marketing objectives.
  • Ability to effectively present one’s own ideas and rationale for writing, concepts, creative in an effective and persuasive manner, both internally, and externally.
  • Help differentiate our products through effective but engaging product-driven storytelling.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times.
  • Continually raise the bar on creativity, writing fresh copy that connects with the desired audience and drives action.
  • Comfortably vary voice, style, and other characteristics demanded by company, or target audience at hand.
  • Stay updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging.
  • Interpret creative briefs to develop and produce creative concepts through execution.
  • Stay on top of trends through business/industry monitoring and outside resources.
  • Ensure written materials are clear, concise, and persuasive to help bring the program strategy to life.
  • Revise copy based on feedback/direction.
  • Proofread written work and online content.
  • Manage time and establish priorities while maintaining flexibility to respond to changing demands.
  • Help communicate creative ideas in presentations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or another related major

Experience :

  • You have 5+ years experience in agency/in-house concepting or content creation role, preferably in the design or lifestyle space under a global brand.
  • You’re an excellent writer with top-notch storytelling skills.
  • Solid understanding of digital experiences and how to write for each channel (i.e., email, site, social media, paid media, wholesale, etc.).
  • You have experience writing high level campaign storytelling/rationale/manifestos.
  • Experience with ticketing, project, and collaboration tools such as Jira.
  • You keep tabs on today’s zeitgeist and have a feel for what’s trending in lifestyle, pop culture and footwear.
  • You’re a left- and right-brainer, who thinks creatively yet has a keen attention to detail, especially when it comes to grammar, voice and project management.
  • Proficient with Word, Power Point, Excel—Adobe Creative Suite
  • If you have experience in SEO and analytics programs, that’s a plus.
  • Experience initiating projects and managing them from A-Z.
  • You can write high-quality, grammatically flawless copy quickly.
  • You’re able to take technical product concepts, terms, and facts and turn them into creative, compelling relatable content.
  • You’re comfortable working under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
  • A portfolio that showcases a strong grasp of brand voice/tone across a variety of channels and audience types.
  • Passion for footwear and fashion—in all forms.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and be a part of something bigger (like a small-but-mighty design team).
  • Extreme attention to detail and a “less is more” approach to copywriting.
  • You’re a pro in content strategy. You feel confident flexing your words to drive business objectives and compel users to action. You are a whiz at using words to take a complex story and make it easy, approachable, and fun.
  • Up-to-date experience with international web protocols and compliance standards.
  • Must be a proactive problem solver and apply an experimentation mindset to innovate on compelling writing to drive user behavior and conversion.
  • Comfortable presenting ideas clearly to large teams.
  • The talent to tell a story in 6 words or less.

Pay Rate Range:

  • $35-40/hr.
