Job Description

General Stage Manager And Show Caller

The role of the General Stage Manager and Show Caller is to support the Production Stage Manager and the Technical Operations Director in driving the creation, staging, and production process including training and formation, creation onsite and into operations, including calling the show. The General Stage Manager and Show Caller reports to the Production Executive Producer.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Oversee Rehearsals: Coordinate and manage all rehearsals, ensuring that schedules run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Show Calling: Function as the primary show caller, executing lighting, sound, and set cues during performances and ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Team Coordination: Act as the main liaison between the production team, crew, actors, and directors. Facilitate clear communication and ensure all parties are aligned with the show's vision and goals.
  • Production Management: Oversee the setup, execution, and strike of performances. Ensure all technical elements are in place and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Safety and Compliance: Monitor and enforce safety protocols on stage and backstage. Conduct safety briefings with the cast and crew as necessary. Conduct safety drills and rescue scenarios as necessary to ensure awareness of and compliance with all emergency protocols and show stop procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain and update call sheets, stage plots, and production schedules. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and accessible to the production team.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly and effectively address any unexpected issues or emergencies that may arise during rehearsals and performances.
  • Performance Quality: Ensure high-quality performance standards are met and maintained throughout the production run.
  • Feedback and Reports: Provide feedback to the production team post-show and contribute to production reports for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in general stage management and show calling and involvement in show creation on large scale circus environments or equivalent large scale productions.
  • A portfolio of general stage management and show calling work in a multinational and multicultural environment
  • Demonstrated leadership of creative and technical teams.
