Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) In Carle Place, Ny

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in Carle Place, NY. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, NOB, Acid Digestion, Cleaning/Washing, Crucibles
• Preparation of environmental samples for asbestos analysis using approved EPA test methodologies
• Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Cross train in Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM)
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Requirements:

• High School diploma OR GED equivalent
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
• Experience with microscopes, balances, furnaces and filtration is a plus
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25lbs and standing for various lengths of time
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Training Shift to start will be Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Carle Place, NY are encouraged to apply.
