Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval includes an award amount (up to $200,000) and an eligibility period (one to five years), determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Functions of Assigned Duties The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and certification, providing evidence-based care for a patient population. Major duties include providing accessible primary care services to Veterans, which may involve same/next-day appointments, walk-ins, or assignment to a primary care team. Care delivery includes face-to-face and virtual modalities, with responsibilities such as diagnosing, treating, educating, documenting, prescribing, and coordinating care. The NP may also participate in team-based care, continuous medical education, and clinical education activities. Licensure and DEA Requirements The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. Prescribing controlled substances requires meeting North Carolina (NC) rules and having a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, embedded in privileging forms. NPs not prescribing controlled substances do not need such an agreement. It is preferred for all NPs to obtain a DEA number. NPs maintaining licenses in non-FPA states must comply with respective regulations and provide practice act information as requested. If prescribing controlled substances in a non-FPA state, the NP may need to apply for North Carolina NP approval to practice, depending on employment conditions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
