This opportunity offers a contract position for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) working within a K-12 school setting in Forest, VA. The role is designed to provide specialized mobility instruction and support to a small caseload of four students across elementary, middle, and high school levels during the upcoming 20252026 school year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized orientation and mobility services tailored to each students needs.
• Support 4 students: one high school, one middle school, and two elementary students.
• Provide weekly sessions for two students and bi-weekly sessions for the remaining two.
• Collaborate with education teams, families, and support staff to monitor progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Ensure all services comply with state guidelines and best practices for students with visual impairments.

Qualifications:

• Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification in the state of Virginia.
• Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within an educational setting.
• Flexibility to deliver services on a schedule of approximately 8 hours per month.

Location and Schedule:

• Position is based in Forest, VA.
• Contract duration: August 13, 2025, through May 30, 2026.
• Approximately 8 hours per month, providing services aligned with student needs and school calendar.
