Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for two Orientation and Mobility Specialists (OMS) to support K-12 students in Riverside, CA. These positions are contracted for the upcoming school year and play a crucial role in helping visually impaired students develop the skills necessary for safe and independent navigation within various environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess student mobility needs and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans.
• Provide specialized instruction to enhance students independence and confidence.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to integrate mobility goals into overall educational plans.
• Conduct training sessions on the use of assistive mobility devices.
• Monitor progress and adjust mobility strategies as needed to support student growth.

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
• Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments.
• Strong communication skills to effectively work with students, families, and educational teams.
• Ability to design and implement customized mobility programs.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and mobility aids.
