Job Description

A full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) position is available within a K-12 educational setting supporting students across Luzerne County. This itinerant role requires mobility across multiple school districts to provide specialized services that enhance the independence and safety of visually impaired students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans tailored to student needs.
• Provide direct instruction and training to students in travel techniques for navigating school and community environments.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to support student goals.
• Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and comply with all mandated documentation standards.
• Attend team meetings and participate in professional development activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist License in Pennsylvania.
• Completion of all Pennsylvania-required clearances prior to the start date.
• Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments.
• Ability to travel across various districts within Luzerne County.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Contract Duration: Full school year; contract position.
• Start Date: August 18, 2025.
• Hours: Full-time, approximately 30-35 hours per week.
