Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee's Sports Medicine Research Lab is seeking a motivated individual to join our research team as a Research Assistant. Under the supervision and direction of the Manager, Sports Medicine Research, the Research Assistant will provide support in conducting research studies focused on injury and illness prevention, athlete health, and various sports medicine research initiatives. The Research Assistant will be expected to provide exceptional customer support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring optimal health, wellbeing, and performance for Team USA. This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of 10 weeks.

Here’s How You ‘ll Have An Impact

  • Assist in the execution of clinical research programs including injury and illness epidemiology, prevention programs, and sport medicine research initiatives.
  • Perform data collection, data entry, and other research support tasks using established protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support participant recruitment, enrollment, and follow-up activities.
  • Conduct literature reviews to inform study designs and support research initiatives.
  • Assist with the preparation of research materials, including consent forms, questionnaires, and other data collection tools.
  • Contribute to the development of reports, presentations, and publications for internal and external dissemination.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of research activities and ensure compliance with data protection and ethical research standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • High school diploma
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise/Sport Science, Data Science, Health Sciences, or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in sport preferred
  • Research experience working with athletes in the areas of epidemiology, injury and illness prevention, and/or sport performance preferred
  • Experience with a variety of data analysis and statistical software preferred
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle confidential information and communicate only to its intended audience(s)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Skill in (or willingness to learn) R, SAS, Python, Tableau, SPSS, or similar data management software
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Preferred knowledge in the areas of:
  • The Olympic and Paralympic Movement
  • Sport performance and human physiology
  • Management and care of athletic injuries
  • Injury and illness in athletic populations
