Wound, Burn and Ostomy Physician at Advantage Surgical and Wound Care summary:

A Wound, Burn, and Ostomy Physician provides specialized medical care focusing on wound management and treatment in post-acute care settings such as skilled nursing facilities and rehab centers. Responsibilities include patient assessments, wound debridement, prescribing dressings, educating staff, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure effective care plans. This part-time role involves daily rounds across multiple facilities, emphasizing high-quality geriatric patient care without supervisory duties or on-call requirements.

Advantage Surgical and Wound Care has an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Wound Care Specialist (1-3 days/week) to work in the South Bay/San Francisco , CA areas. Qualified candidates will round at multiple facilities that are located within a designated territory.

Our experienced medical providers perform rounds in Skilled Nursing Facilities, providing wound care to residents of post-acute rehab settings, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and long-term acute care hospitals.

Qualifications:

• Active state medical license (MD/DO)
• Board Certification preferred (Family Practice or Internal Medicine)
• General Practitioners welcome to apply
• Valid state driver s license

Duties:

• Weekday commitment: No call, evenings, or weekends
• Deliver wound care at the bedside in the post-acute care setting.
• Round daily at multiple facilities
• No supervisory commitment

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, paying special attention to factors that increase the risk of wound formation.
• Collaborate with facility staff to ensure an effective wound care plan.
• Perform wound debridement and prescribe appropriate wound dressings.
• Educate nursing staff, and maintain open communication with primary care physicians, families, and clinical teams as required.
• Order necessary medications and provide clear instructions for their use.
• Provide quality patient care to the Geriatric patient population.

• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting required for extended periods of time.
