The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, established in 1885, consists of 16 branches and 2 destination camps - all dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected, and secure children, adults, families and communities.

The Park South YMCA is looking for a caring and dependable Kitchen Aide to join our preschool team. This role is all about nourishing our children and creating a safe, welcoming dining experience each day.

• Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks for preschool participants.
• In the summer, help provide meals for our Teen and Summer Camp programs.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with inventory, storage, and proper handling of food items.
• Support a warm, friendly atmosphere for children, teens, and staff.
• Obtain handlers training
• Assist in the preparation and portioning of meals and snacks
• Set up and clean up food service areas before and after meals
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas
• Ensure proper food storage and labeling following safety and sanitation guidelines
• Assist with inventory tracking and notifying supervisor of low stock
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations (including HACCP, if applicable)
• Support the cook or kitchen manager in any other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous kitchen or food service experience is a plus, but not required
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs
• Basic understanding of food safety practices
• Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to take initiative
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately

This position operates in a commercial kitchen environment and there is exposure to hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and cleaning chemicals.
